American Tire Distributors to Offer Continental Tires

2004 Vic Edelbrock Sr. Scholarship Award Recipient Named

Edelbrock gave automotive student Casey Cox a check for $5,594 as the recipient of the 2004 Vic Edelbrock Sr. Scholarship Award. Cox, 19, of Hays, Kan., is a student at the Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kan.

Goodyear Directors Re-elected, Chairman Keegan to Serve Another Three-Year Term

Shareholders of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. have announced their selections for the company’s board of directors. Robert Keegan, chairman and CEO of the Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker, has been re-elected to serve another three year term, earning 84.5 percent of the company’s shareholders votes. Keegan’s re-election is seen as a positive indicator of improvement for the tiremaker. Keegan has led Goodyear through a difficult period during which the company eliminated 6,000 jobs and lost $280 million in accounting errors. During that time, its shares plummeted to a low of $3.67 last year. In early trading Wednesday, shares were up 8 cents to $9.22 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Gentex Named to BusinessWeek’s List of Hot Growth Companies

Gentex Corporation, the Zeeland, Mich.-based manufacturer of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors and commercial fire protection products, has once again been named to Business Week’s “Hot Growth Companies” list, which ranks the 100 fastest-growing publicly traded companies. It’s the fifth time in six years that Gentex has made this prestigious list.
