Federated Honors Outstanding Members

Federated Auto Parts presented its most prestigious member awards at its annual meeting held April 23-26 in Dallas. Mike Jacabacci of Woodbury Automotive Warehouse was presented with the Art Fisher Memorial Membership Award. Cliff Hovis of Hovis Auto & Truck Supply was named the Co-Man Member of the Year and Duke Young of Pat Young Service Co. was selected as the Outstanding Marketing Member of the Year. The late Marvin Mastroff, a longtime Federated member, was honored with a special Art Fisher Memorial Award, which was accepted by his son Russell Mastroff.

Another Twist in the Bendix Consumer Fraud Scam

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake (BSFB) have reported another twist in the consumer scam activity that bears the company names. Bendix is warning the public of repeated waves of consumer fraud activity that have appropriated the companies’ identities. The company first warned its employees, customers and other consumers about the appearance of fraudulent sweepstakes scams in late March of this year. They have now been alerted to a third wave of fraudulent activity. This round has taken a new twist from the previous activity.

Federated Recognizes Outstanding Supplier Support

Federated Auto Parts has presented Outstanding Supplier Support Awards to companies that achieved exceptional success in each of six categories in 2007. The awards were presented on April 24 at Federated’s annual meeting in Dallas.

GPI/CARQUEST Names Todd Hack Senior VP of Product Management, President of CARQUEST Corp.

Todd Hack has been promoted to senior vice president of Product Management for General Parts/CARQUEST and president of CARQUEST Corp. He will be responsible for management of the Product Store Support Center. Hack has been with CARQUEST for 18 years, during which time he managed a CARQUEST Auto Parts store and worked in sales and distribution. In 1992, he moved to CARQUEST Corp., where he was the marketing coordinator and held the positions of product manager, director of product marketing and vice president. Hack became executive vice president, CARQUEST Headquarters and vice president, marketing, General Parts, Inc. in 2001. Most recently, he was general manager of CARQUEST Products, Inc. in New Castle, Ind.

PPG Senior Vice President Kevin Sullivan to Retire

PITTSBURGH — Kevin Sullivan, senior vice president, chemicals, plans to retire from PPG Industries and will transition his responsibilities as of July 1. “Kevin’s contributions to both our chemicals and fiber glass businesses over the years have been significant and his natural business acumen will be missed," said Charles Bunch, chairman and chief executive officer.

Tasco to Acquire the Collision Equipment Group

PPG distributor and Collision Equipment Group (CEG) founding member Tasco Auto Color has announced the acquisition of CEG as a strategic move to accommodate CEG’s rapid growth. CEG and Tasco will expand their exclusive distribution agreement with Spanesi, S.p.A to include a broader range of Spanesi products and even closer ties to the Italian manufacturer of body shop repair equipment including benches, lifts and the Touch computerized electronic measuring system. Tasco says that Touch sales in the United States and Canada have established CEG and Spanesi, a leading supplier to the European body shops, as companies that are greatly contributing to shop efficiency and profitability.
