On the heels of the “green car” trend seen at last week’s Detroit Auto Show, Gaetano “Guy” Mannino, president and CEO of Verdek, used an exhibit at the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Conference in Rome , GA , yesterday to announce the first sales agreement for the newly formed consulting and trading company. ROME , GA On the heels of the “green car” trend seen at last week’s Detroit Auto Show, Gaetano “Guy” Mannino, president and CEO of Verdek, used an exhibit at the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Conference in Rome , GA , yesterday to announce the first sales agreement for the newly formed consulting and trading company. Verdek announced it will market ZAP electric vehicles.

ZAP, which stands for Zero Air Pollution, offers a full line of electric cars, trucks, scooters and off-road vehicles, as well as charging accessories, which Verdek plans to market and sell throughout Georgia . ZAP is currently distributing the nation’s only all-electric p rod uction car and just received a major contract from UPS for local delivery vehicles.

The goal of Verdek is to create value for U.S. and foreign companies planning to expand their businesses into new market arenas, especially “green” technology, so the ARC Conference on “Renewable Energy & Energy Efficient Technologies” seemed like an ideal place for Verdek to exhibit several electric vehicles p rod uced by Santa Rosa , CA-based ZAP.

“Verdek is an evolutionary company that embraces consulting and trading to offer a full- service approach to companies with plans to expand their markets,” commented Mannino, formerly president and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America. “Our first venture with ZAP is a perfect example of the type of company that Verdek plans on working with … a high-tech firm that is environmentally responsible and economically sound.”
