Grote Expands 4SEE by Grote Smart Trailer System

Grote demonstrated the system at the 2023 ATA Management Conference & Expo, Oct. 14-17.

As Grote continues to release innovative solutions as part of its 4SEE Smart Trailer System, the company said it demonstrated the first-of-its-kind rear-view camera in partnership with Stoneridge, Inc. at the 2023 ATA Management Conference and Exhibition from Oct. 14-17, 2023, at the Austin Convention Center.

Visitors to the Grote Industries booth (#3025) were able to interact with the wired rear-view camera that is now in production. This system is the first wired rear-view camera connected through the standard J560 7-way connector to enable video from the back of the trailer directly to a video display in the cab, with virtually no latency, the company said.

“Innovation is part of our DNA,” says Dominic Grote, CEO and president, “and since safety is a key tenet of our vision, applying that skill to designing a system that improves safety for both fleets and everyone on the road is a natural outcome for us. I’m proud of the work our team does every day to innovate and to live our mission, vision, and values.”

Grote said the innovations that define 4SEE by Grote are part of a long legacy of innovations since the company’s founding in 1901, including the first hydraulic injection molding machine, the first impact-resistant light for semi-trailers, and the first LED marker lamps for semi-trailers. Most recently, Grote was recognized with the Innovation Excellence Award by the Indiana Manufacturers Association for both its history of innovations and the launch of its innovative 4SEE Smart Trailer System, according to the company.

“Grote’s 4SEE Smart Trailer System integrates the newest smart technology from our industry’s component and supplier leaders and connects all modules on the trailer via the 4SEE Digital Harness, enabling all nodes to communicate on a single harness system,” the company said. The 4SEE nose box integrates all component data from the trailer, allowing it to be transmitted directly to the driver, cloud, or third-party telematics provider. The full system is not only backward compatible but ready for the future of smart trailer systems.

In addition to reefers and dry vans, Grote is making the benefits of the 4SEE Smart Trailer System available to flatbed trailers as well. “By continuing to expand the availability of the 4SEE system, as well as its features and capabilities, Grote is delivering on its vision of making the world safer and smarter through connected visibility,” the company added.
