Gates Introduces PolarSeal II for Transportation, Fleet and Heavy-Duty Vehicles

According to Gates, the A/C barrier hose system allows for easy retrofits in the transportation, fleet and heavy-duty markets.

DENVER, Colo. – Gates Corp. has announced the availability of PolarSeal II, the next generation of the company’s low-permeation, reduced barrier A/C hose system.

The system utilizes Polar Seal II hose, double-banded clamps and easy to use specialty pliers, replacing the need for traditional crimping methods. This system is designed to address hard-to-service transportation, fleet and heavy-duty applications, long hose runs, complicated retrofits and field repairs. All PolarSeal II hoses, fittings and clamps meet SAE J2064 Type C, Class 1 specifications.

School and transit buses, RVs, limos and other heavy-equipment applications will save maintenance time and find A/C retrofits simplified as high-quality assemblies can be completed directly on vehicles, according to Gates. Hose runs are made prior to the attachment of the fittings, allowing the hose to pass through significantly smaller openings within the vehicle chassis and body.

“Replacing a crimped 134A hose assembly can be difficult on buses and other specialty vehicles. PolarSeal II simplifies that replacement,” said Rick Mirtz, Gates product manager. “PolarSeal II allows you to make the assembly right on the vehicle. You can run the hose first, and then attach the couplings and fittings at the desired component location with the specialty pliers.”
