BETHESDA, Md. – The Aftermarket Telematics Challenge, established last year by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), was created to identify and recognize the product or solution that best demonstrates how the independent aftermarket is a viable connected-car alternative for consumers. The 2013 Aftermarket Telematics Challenge is now accepting entries.
The winning product will be the best example of technology to be introduced to the vehicle post-production that delivers remote diagnostics and other telematics services. Connectivity with the aftermarket parts and service channel is principal among the criteria used to assess Telematics products and solutions. The winning entry will be announced at AAPEX, Nov. 5-6 in Las Vegas, and a $10,000 scholarship donation will be presented to the Aftermarket Scholarship Fund in the name of the winning company.
The 2012 winner of the Aftermarket Telematics Challenge was Delphi Product & Service Solutions for its Connected Car OBDII plug-in device and Web interface designed by Aftermarket Telematics Technologies (ATT). Click here to learn more about the Delphi Connected Car solution.
Entries for the 2013 Telematics Challenge must be complete and submitted no later than Sept. 20. The product must be currently in production and commercially available. The Telematics Challenge is open to all entries, without regard for AAIA membership or affiliation with the independent aftermarket.
Complete entries must include:
* A completed application;
* A video or recorded demonstration of the working product or solution;
* A presentation or documentation of the product features and capabilities; and
* A written business profile of how the product addresses the interests of the independent parts and service aftermarket.
