Environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes can be a good marketing tool, but the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is active in its pursuit of manufacturers who falsely claim “green” practices in promotional campaigns. Arent Fox, AASA legal counsel, advises all members to become familiar with the FTC’s "Guidelines for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims" prior to making environmental or "green" claims in marketing materials.
