Identifix Now Offers Genuine OEM Service and Repair Information to Aftermarket Repair Shops

Direct-Hit with OEM Direct provides repair shops with a complete online information tool, company says.

ROSEVILLE, Minn. –  Vehicle diagnostics provider Identifix Inc. has announced the addition of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) service and repair information to it online tool, Direct-Hit.

Delivering information that comes straight from the factory, Direct-Hit’s new OEM Direct feature allows shop owners and technicians to diagnose and repair vehicles with greater speed, accuracy and confidence, according to Identifix.

“There has always been a strong business need among aftermarket shops to have access to the same information as dealership technicians,” said Jeff Sweet, president of Identifix. “Identifix has answered this need with the addition of OEM Direct.  We’re taking our commitment to repair shops one giant step forward, enabling them to increase productivity with a single online tool.”

Identifix says the OEM Direct feature provides genuine, unedited information for the three largest domestic automakers (Ford, General Motors and Chrysler) and the three largest foreign automakers (Honda, Toyota and Nissan). Overall, this represents 21 vehicle makes equaling nearly 9 million service manual pages. Identifix says it will be adding licensed Volkswagen and Audi data and is pursuing coverage from other European and Asian OEMs.

OEM websites have been available to aftermarket technicians since the mid-90’s. However, the differences in site navigation, terminology and subscription fees across manufacturers can make accessing technical information slow, difficult and cost-prohibitive, according to Identifix. The company says Direct-Hit solves these challenges at a more reasonable price for repair shop owners.

“This enhancement isn’t just about adding more information to Direct-Hit,” added Sweet. “It’s how we have integrated OEM service and repair information and retooled the way that technicians access information to get the job done for one affordable monthly investment. Whether they link to OEM repair procedures directly from our short-cut diagnostics or use our intuitive ‘supercharged’ keyword search, Direct-Hit helps techs outsmart even the most complex problem vehicles.”
