Cummins Emission Solutions Announces Strategic Partnership with EMCON Technologies

Company plans to close its Wautoma, Wisc., plant.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Cummins Emission Solutions (CES), has announced a new strategic partnership with EMCON Technologies to manufacture CES-Designed emission controls systems for the 2010 on-highway truck market.

CES will continue to provide the integrated Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) SCR systems for meeting 2010 EPA emission standards from its existing manufacturing base in Wisconsin. EMCON will be the manufacturer of CES’s Diesel Particulate Filters.

Plans call for EMCON to begin production of the CES DPF products in late 2009.

In other news, CES said it will shut down its Wautoma, Wis., plant. Approximately 180 people are employed at the Wautoma Plant, which will close its doors by the end of March. The other emission control and exhaust products currently manufactured in the Wautoma facility will be moved to other CES manufacturing locations in Wisconsin. CES said it will review opportunities to transfer some people to other Cummins locations, but these opportunities are expected to be very limited due to the market conditions.

CES President Srikanth Padmanabhan explained that due to a significant decrease in demand, it was not prudent to continue the operations at Wautoma.
