Delco Remy’s New 36SI Alternator Provides Improved Fuel Efficiency for Fleets

From aftermarketNews Staff & Wire Reports

PENDLETON, Ind. – Delco Remy says its new 36SI heavy-duty alternator is helping fleets meet fuel efficiency improvement goals, which ultimately, can equate to fuel savings. Large fleets, such as retailer Wal-Mart, are purchasing the alternator to improve their efficiency across their truck fleets, said the company.

Delco Remy’s 36SI alternator has a brushless design. This means fewer moving parts to wear, resulting in improved durability and life of the alternator. It also features Remote Sense technology that can reduce battery charge time by 50 percent, according to the company. Design enhancements to the 36SI alternator include improved cooling, durability and overall efficiency.

“The 36SI was designed to reduce the engine horsepower needed to run the unit, leaving more horsepower to run the truck. This translates directly into fuel savings,” said Kent Jones, vice president of sales and marketing at Delco Remy.
