DEKRA Creates Automotive Test Facilities In Shanghai

The focus is the growing demand for safe wireless components for the “Internet of Vehicles” and safe electromobility.

DEKRA has continued to expand its product testing portfolio in the Far East. In the Jiading district of Shanghai, DEKRA has now opened a new laboratory for testing automotive components and materials. The focus is the growing demand for safe wireless components for the “Internet of Vehicles” (IoV) and safe electromobility.

dekra-logo“Thanks to strategic acquisitions, internal growth and professional services, DEKRA has risen up to become one of the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification organizations,” said Stefan Kölbl, chairman of the management boards of DEKRA e.V. and DEKRA SE, at the opening ceremony in Shanghai on Oct. 12. “In the past two years alone, we have commissioned 15 new laboratories around the world and created a substantial network, because safety is a basic human need all over the world.”

The laboratory in the Jiading district of Shanghai is one of the biggest investments in the course of DEKRA’s organic growth and offers various high-tech testing services under one roof, with a particular focus on the high-growth automotive industry. These services include chemical tests and material identification, safety tests and certification, tests of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) as well as reliability testing and fault analysis.

The laboratory in Shanghai fits into DEKRA’s strategy of being present at the innovation hubs and on the growth markets of the Asia-Pacific region with its own test facilities. As recently as this summer, DEKRA opened an “Internet of Things” laboratory in Linkou, Taiwan. This laboratory offers a broad range of testing and certification services with an eye toward the computer, consumer goods and automotive industries.
