BorgWarner Builds 5 Millionth Turbocharger In China

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – BorgWarner has built its 5 millionth turbocharger at its manufacturing facility in Ningbo, China. Since 2005, the plant has produced a variety of turbochargers for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Customers include global as well as domestic vehicle makers.

Engineered to improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and enhance performance, BorgWarner’s advanced turbocharging technology is in high demand in China. As emissions standards become more stringent, BorgWarner expects the Chinese light vehicle turbocharger market to more than double by 2019.

Recently, employees at the facility also earned a BorgWarner CEO’s Safety Excellence Award for attaining 1 million hours without a recordable incident. BorgWarner’s safety program not only recognizes employees for maintaining a safe workplace, but also supports the local community. The nearly 900 employees at the facility chose to donate their $20,000 safety award to two local primary schools.

“At BorgWarner, our passionate pursuit of excellence encompasses everything we do, from the high-quality products we manufacture to the safe work environment where we produce them,” said Frederic Lissalde, president and general manager, BorgWarner Turbo Systems. “Congratulations to our employees for achieving these important milestones.”
