- Tell us about your role and what you like best about it.
As the Director of Product Management, I lead an SBU that is responsible for lifecycle management of Engine hard parts categories. My team is responsible for product lifecycle from “cradle to grave” which starts as an idea or gap coverage through commercialization of the product so it’s ready to hit the market. Additional ownership responsibilities include all activities for the life of the product such as pricing, quality/ warranty, engineering, sourcing – just to name a few. I’ve always described product management as the hub of a spoked wheel. We are involved in every aspect of the business directly or indirectly. I like the involvement and seeing everything big picture from start to finish. However, what I like best about my role is the people. The passion and desire to win attitude is exhilarating.
- What attracted you to the automotive aftermarket?
I grew up with a car enthusiast and hobbyist father, where I was always exposed to cars and car culture whether through his collection, tinkering in the garage or attending shows and functions. I didn’t seek out a job in this industry, but am fortunate that it found me. Even at that point, I never imagined I could make a career out of it, but I’m happy with the way things have evolved and grateful for the ride thus far.
- In what ways are you involved in the industry?
I currently sit on the Young Auto Care Network Group (YANG) Council, a member of Auto Care Association’s Events Committee, as well as a guest member for the Market Intelligence Committee. Additionally, I proudly support the Auto Care Political Action Committee (ACPAC) and the Right to Repair, University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UofA) Coffee Club and Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation (AACF).
- What was your first car?
My first car, which I still own to this day but spends more time under a cover in the garage than on the streets, was an E36 BMW M3.
- What is your dream car?
Wow, my list of dream cars could fill a commercial airplane hangar! However, if I must pick one, I’m going with the iconic 1988 Lamborghini Countach.
- What do you like to do outside of work? Tell us about your hobbies and interests!
With two very active sons in sports, a lot of my time is spent running from one sports complex to the other. I enjoy watching them compete and have fun. Outside of that, I do enjoy driving and working on my cars and golfing. Being a warm weather person, I’m always down for the fun things summer brings and enjoy downtime with the family.
- Name a favorite trip you’ve made or one place on your “bucket list” you’d like to see.
A European tour is a bucket list item.
- What was the last book you read or are currently reading?
This is a transition week – I just finished The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman and started reading Upstream by Dan Heath.
- Who was your childhood hero?
My father. He always leads by example and has been a positive influence.
- What is one word your coworkers would use to describe you?
Am I within earshot? Kidding. I think they would describe me as dedicated.
