Winsby Group Releases Free Software to View AAIA Vehicle Configuration Database

Winsby Group, LLC announced the release of a free Windows-based software tool to view the AAIA Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb). The software is available for individual download from the company’s Web site at winsbygroup.com for all AAIA Catalog Enhanced Standard (ACES) subscribers.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Winsby Group, LLC announced the release of a free Windows-based software tool to view the AAIA Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb). The software is available for individual download from the company’s Web site at winsbygroup.com for all AAIA Catalog Enhanced Standard (ACES) subscribers.

Until now, ACES subscribers have been required to either search a raw database of more than 60 tables or use the association’s Internet-based tool to view configuration information. “That interface was designed primarily as a collaborative tool to manage requests for changes to the VCdb,” said Doug Winsby, president of the Winsby Group and chief architect of the ACES delivery format. “We developed a specialized VCdb Viewer as part of our AceMapper product and found it was such a great way to look up vehicle information that we decided to offer a free version to the ACES community.

“This is a great tool for anyone mapping catalog data to ACES,” Winsby added. “Not only does it show all the vehicle groupings with one query, but it also provides a unique look into the legacy migration tables buried in the VCdb.”

In order to download the software, ACES subscribers simply need to complete registration information and a three-question survey on the Winsby Group Web site. Summary results of this survey will be shared with AAIA for general release to its members.
