Vontier Corporation announced the promotion of Mike Dwyer to president of Matco Tools. Dwyer takes over the role from Tim Gilmore, who is retiring after a 36-year tenure at the company. To facilitate a smooth transition, Gilmore will remain as an advisor.
Mark Morelli, president and CEO of Vontier, extended his appreciation for Gilmore’s years of service. He credited Gilmore with significantly strengthening Matco’s position in the market and preparing the company for future growth. In welcoming Dwyer, Morelli highlighted the new president’s extensive experience.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mike Dwyer to the Vontier team,” Morelli continued. He said he anticipates that Dwyer’s background in brand management and his experience with both B2B and B2C operations will be particularly beneficial as Matco Tools moves forward with its strategic plans for 2024 and beyond.
Dwyer comes to Matco Tools with over three decades of leadership experience. He previously served as president of the North American consumer business at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, overseeing a team of over 10,000 and managing the company’s primary consumer division. Before Goodyear, Dwyer spent 24 years at Unilever in various roles focusing on leadership and growth.
Dwyer expressed enthusiasm about joining Matco Tools during a transformative period in the industry, with advancements in technology and the energy sector reshaping mobility. “It’s an exciting time to be part of our industry,” Dwyer said, acknowledging the potential for Matco’s franchisee network and product offerings to spearhead growth and adapt to changing transportation dynamics.
Dwyer will report to Morelli and work from the company’s headquarters in Stow, Ohio.
