The Week in Review (Sept. 25-29,2006)

By Amy Antenora, Editor

The top news story on aftermarketNews this week reported on the upper management shake-up at CSK Corp., following an internal investigation into accounting errors that have resulted in about $92 million in overstatements in vendor allowances and surplus inventory before 2005. The company’s president and COO Martin Fraser, CFO Don Watson, and several other individuals from the CSK’s finance department are no longer with the company as a result. Maynard Jenkins, CSK’s chairman and CEO, has announced he will also step down from his role as CEO. He will assume the responsibilities of the president and COO, while the search for his replacement is conducted.

In a move to enhance and expand its global marketing capabilities, Affinia Group this week announced a series of personnel announcements, which were also among the most widely read stories this week. Among the announcements came news that Terry Shively, a 35-year Dana exec, is joining Affinia as vice president for strategic market development. (To read about all of the new appointments at Affinia, click here.)

In other personnel news, Jennifer Tio has been promoted to president of Maximum Marketing, as was announced in one of the most read stories of the week.

Another story of high interest to AMN readers this week was that of the Automotive Distribution Network’s record breaking membership meeting held recently in San Francisco. This was the largest attendance ever at such a meeting for both Parts Plus and IAPA, which merged to become the Network this past January.

Readers of aftermarketNews also showed interest this week in Part II of Chuck Udell’s article series on leadership, titled: “Clarity of Structure: More Than an Organizational Chart.” Part III will be published on Oct. 16.

Looking ahead, stay tuned next Monday for an Executive Interview with Rod McKenzie, president of Penray. Join us as McKenzie brings us up to speed on the latest developments at the automotive chemicals company.
