Tenneco has expanded its technical center in Japan. Located in Yokohama, the facility provides engineering and product development services, including a full range of product testing capabilities. The technical center supports Tenneco’s full line of Clean Air and Ride Performance products for applications including light vehicles, commercial trucks and off-highway equipment.
“I am pleased to officially open our expanded research and development center to serve our Japan-based customers with state-of-the-art engineering capabilities,” said Patrick Guo, Tenneco senior vice president and general manager – Asia Pacific. “Our engineering know-how, global regulatory expertise and capabilities in systems integration are driving Tenneco’s success in serving our customers with innovative, cost-effective solutions.”
The Tenneco Japan Technical Center features two engine dynamometers used in the testing of emissions control systems for both diesel and gasoline engines. Additional emission control testing capabilities include an anechoic chamber for acoustic testing, cold flow bench for backpressure verification, thermal durability testing, hot vibration testing, system design and analysis, modeling, acoustic analysis and performance validation using advanced CAE tools.
Tenneco’s technical center also offers testing capabilities for vehicle suspension products including predictive analysis, performance evaluation and acoustic testing. To support development of complete ride performance systems, Tenneco Japan engineers also use two specially designed mobile ride tuning vans to create custom solutions for customers. Working from these mobile laboratories on-site at a customer’s location, Tenneco engineers can create suspension systems optimized for a specific brand’s ride, handling and comfort characteristics.
