CHARLOTTE, N.C. and FRANKFURT, Germany — SPX Service Solutions has entered into an agreement with Toyota Motor Corp. to supply a new Vehicle Interface Module (VIM) for the Toyota Diagnostic tool.

The new VIM, to be based on SPX proprietary vehicle communication interface technology, will be developed as a global tool and utilized as an approved diagnostic repair solution for Toyota dealers. The announcement was made at the Automechanika 2010 trade show taking place this week in Frankfurt, Germany.

"This assignment from Toyota is a significant undertaking. We will work with Toyota to integrate its next generation of hardware for the critical service function of vehicle diagnostics," said Tanvir Arfi, president, SPX Service Solutions. "This tool, which interfaces with the New Toyota Diagnostics Tool (Global Techstream) diagnostic platform, clearly demonstrates SPX Service Solutions’ expertise in vehicle service technologies, accumulated over the nearly 100 years we’ve been working with automotive manufacturers. It also underscores our market position as an innovative technology leader in the vehicle service industry."

SPX says it will provide a VIM that will meet both current global requirements as well as support future vehicles. As the new VIM is deployed globally, exclusive of Japan and North America, SPX will provide technical support on a regional basis to meet the needs of Toyota’s worldwide market.
