ATLANTA Vehicle emissions and safety inspection company Speedemissions announced that the newest version of its CARbonga app, CARbongaBT is now available in the Apple app store.
The CARbongaBT app, along with its new Bluetooth device, gives drivers an "X-ray" of their vehicle’s emissions and safety codes. In addition to operating the app, the Bluetooth device offers driver evaluation, vehicle maintenance and fuel economy provisions. Both the CARbongaBT app and the Bluetooth device can be used on multiple vehicles.
According to Speedemissions, the device is a plug and play adapter that taps into the vast amounts of information available in today’s cars. There are two unique features that make this device different than similar products on the market, according to the company. First, it captures and stores driving and trip information for more than a year, using patent-pending technology. Second is the size. With a width of 1.8 inches, height of 1.38 inches and depth of just 1 inch, the device is easy to install in the OBD port of any 1996 or newer car or truck, the company says. It allows car owners to see stored data on their personal computer.
Delivery of the product will begin in early 2013 and retail for $69.99. It will be available for purchase at CARbonga.com, Speedemissions.com and in the Speedemissions emission testing stores. The CARbongaBT app sells for $4.99.
"This is a project on which we’ve been working for quite some time," said Rich Parlontieri, president and CEO. "And one that took a lot of energy, patience and resources. So obviously we’re very excited to be able to have this Bluetooth device available to operate our CARbongaBT app and to sell on the open market. Plus, the Bluetooth device offers a significant benefit for parents, who care about keeping their family, especially teenage children and the car they’re driving, safe. It’s a really great ‘peace-of-mind’ tool when using the CARbongaBT app."
