Snap-on has announced access to Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) secured vehicle systems for its customers with Wi-Fi enabled diagnostic tools powered by the latest software. This access allows technicians to connect to any VAG vehicle by completing registration through their Snap-on Technician Profile account at no extra cost.
This new access to VAG vehicles supplements the existing access to 2018 and newer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) vehicles, which is available through AutoAuth registration, the company said.
Helen Cox, marketing and client services director at Snap-on Diagnostics, emphasized the importance of OEM access support due to automobile manufacturers’ efforts to protect their vehicles’ networks from unauthorized access and potential cyber-attacks. Cox stated, “For those vehicles with the secure gateway module, access to certain diagnostic functions requires registration and authentication through an approved device for all aftermarket scan tools.”
Snap-on facilitates secure gateway access through its Security Link services, ensuring uniform entry to secured vehicle systems for its customers.
