ASA Names Manager of Membership Development and Affiliate Relations

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has promoted B.J. Johnson to manager of membership development and affiliate relations. Johnson served ASA as affiliate group liaison for 14 years and was responsible for maintaining open communications between the national office and the affiliate and chapter groups, including the development of new chapters and affiliates. She is a charter member of the American Society of Association Executive’s Chapter Relations section started in 1993. In 1996, she received a service award given by the ASA executive directors to recognize her commitment and dedication to ASA and the automotive industry.

Michelin Plans to Cut 2,900 Jobs, May Recruit as Many

Michelin said it will eliminate as many as 2,900 jobs at its home-base in France in the next two years under a draft program. According to a company spokeswoman, the program could allow for the recruitment of as many people. The program was designed to help ensure a competitive stance in the Western market. Most of the jobs will be eliminated through attrition or early retirement, said the global tiremaker. The company is offering early retirement on a voluntary basis for 6,000 employees between 2004 and 2006.
