GAAS 2008: University of the Aftermarket Leadership 2.0 Team Envision Tackles Telematics
On day two of the 2008 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium in Chicago, “Team Envision,” one of two teams of aftermarket executives who participated in the 2007-2008 University of the Aftermarket Leadership 2.0 program, presented their winning research project on telematics. The team, comprised of Nataki Barnes, marketing manager, Federal-Mogul Corp.; JR Bishop, director of racing & event marketing for Federated Auto Parts; Jim Dykstra, owner of Dykstra’s Auto Service, T.J. Fontana, manager of sales operations & training, Tenneco; and Mike Harvey of Affinia, gave a clear, concise breakdown of the current state of telematics as well as a look at where it’s headed and how the aftermarket can play a part. Just after their presentation, aftermarketNews took a few minutes to chat with Team Envision about their telematics research.
Delphi Taps Ron Pirtle to Lead Powertrain Division; James Bertrand to Succeed Pirtle as President of Delphi Thermal
Delphi Corp. has announced changes in the top leadership of its Powertrain and Thermal Divisions. Ronald Pirtle has been named president of Delphi Powertrain and president of the company’s European Operations. He succeeds Guy Hachey, who is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity. Pirtle, who had been president of Delphi Thermal, will relocate to Luxembourg and will continue to report to Delphi CEO and President Rodney O’Neal. James Bertrand succeeds Pirtle as president of Delphi Thermal and also maintains his current responsibilities as president of the company’s Automotive Holdings Group (AHG). Both divisions are headquartered in Southeast Michigan. Bertrand will continue to report to O’Neal as well.

Advance Auto Parts has announced organizational changes made to reflect priorities designed to transform the business. The staffing changes are being organized under the following themes: "DIFM Acceleration," "DIY Transformation," “Availability Excellence" and "Superior Experience."
Key Senior Leadership Changes at Modine, David Rayburn to Retire
Modine Manufacturing Co. announced that its President and Chief Executive Officer David Rayburn will be retiring from the company and its board of directors, effective March 31. The company has named Thomas Burke, its chief operating officer, to succeed Rayburn. In addition, Chief Financial Officer Bradley Richardson has been promoted to a new position. Effective April 1, Burke will assume the role of president and chief executive officer and Richardson will assume the newly created position of executive vice president – corporate strategy and chief financial officer.
