Northwood Honors Seven Aftermarket Professionals with Automotive Aftermarket Education Awards

Northwood University honored seven automotive aftermarket leaders with its annual Automotive Aftermarket Education Award this past Tuesday in Bally’s Hotel & Resort in Las Vegas. The awards were presented during a breakfast at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo Show (AAPEX).

MEMA Honors Long-time Members

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) this week honored 14 companies marking membership anniversaries from 25 to 65 years. The members were recognized at the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Executive Reception on Oct. 31 at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, and with displays in the AASA Business/Meetings Center, Rooms 104-106 of the Sands Expo Center.

KYB Names Gail McHugh Customer Services Manager

KYB America LLC has named Gail McHugh as the company’s new customer services manager. Prior to assuming her position at KYB, McHugh served as vehicle service market customer service manager for Chicago Rawhide/SKF in Elgin, Ill. McHugh began her aftermarket career in 1985, holding a variety of positions for BWD Automotive/Dana until joining Chicago Rawhide in 2004.

Global Automotive Aftermarket Scholarship Fund Received Record Donations in 2004

The Global Automotive Aftermarket Scholarship program, funded through the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS), received more than $20,000 in corporate and individual donations in 2004, helping the program award a record 145 scholarships of $1,000 to students planning aftermarket careers, and to sons and daughters of industry families.

Diggory Elected Chairman of Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association

William “Bill” Diggory, vice president and general manager of Chicago Rawhide, Elgin, Ill., has been elected 2005 chairman of the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA). Diggory served as HDMA vice chairman in 2004.

Car Care Council Women’s Board Announces Winners of the Automotive Communications Awards

The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) has announced the winners of the new Automotive Communications Awards (ACA). The awards were presented during the Women’s Board reception on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Las Vegas, during AAPEX. The Automotive Communications Awards recognize companies/agencies that provide automotive information through outstanding advertising, marketing and PR efforts. The business-to-consumer awards have 14 categories for entry targeted to women, including car care clinics and direct mail piece or campaign/newsletter. The business-to-business awards consist of 21 categories with such options as logo design and special promotions and promotional events/trade show.

AMS Automotive Adds Two New Regional Sales Managers

AMS Automotive, a manufacturer and distributor of manual transmission components for automotive and light/medium duty trucks, recently named two new regional sales managers. Jeff Phillips has been named the new Central regional sales manager for AMS Automotive. AMS Automotive has also announce the appointment of Gene Shaw as the northeastern regional sales manager.

Chicago Rawhide Becomes “Gold” Sponsor of the Car Care Council Women’s Board

Chicago Rawhide (CR) has announced its sponsorship of the 2004 Car Care Council Women’s Board activities. CR will support the board at the “Gold” sponsorship level.

Timken Transfers Some Logistics Operations to Joint Venture

Timken is transferring the balance of its Toronto, Ont., and Reno, Nev., warehousing operations to its joint venture CoLinx. CoLinx was formed as a joint venture between INA Holding Schaeffler KG, Rockwell Automation, The SKF Group and Timken. The company provides Web-based services and integrated logistics for premium-brand industrial manufacturers. Taking Action on AHPs

The Association Health Plan (AHP) Coalition, made up of more than 150 associations including AAIA, is getting geared up for its second session. In order to raise the visibility of Association Health Plans in the Senate, a letter was sent to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), copying members of the Senate Uninsured Taskforce, asking him to include AHPs in any uninsured legislation he introduces.
