Northwood University Announces Groundbreaking for Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies

Northwood University President Keith Pretty, J.D. has extended to the community an open invitation to the ground-breaking ceremony for The Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies. The groundbreaking ceremony for this 25,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art education center will take place at 11 a.m. on March 21, at the building site near the back parking lot behind the NADA Center. A reception and lunch will follow at 12 noon in the NADA Education Center. The Northwood University Michigan campus is located at 4000 Whiting Drive in Midland, MI.

The shareholders of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc. gathered in Boca Raton, FL, for the group’s annual winter meeting held Dec. 2-6. Each shareholder of the Alliance was represented. Judge OKs Meridian Financing Changes

The judge overseeing reorganization efforts of Meridian Automotive Systems Inc. approved changes in its bankruptcy financing that will help the auto-parts supplier stay competitive as it navigates turmoil in the industry. Judge Mary Walrath’s order Wednesday allows the Dearborn, MI-based company to take advantage of the full $75 million of its debtor-in-possession loan, and it extends the maturity date of the financing package to Dec. 31. The agreement was set to expire Oct. 31.

TIA Announces 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced the members of the 2006 Tire Industry Hall of Fame. The new inductees are Jaques Bajer, president of Tire Systems Engineering Inc. and Armando Tornel Murillo, executive president at Empresas Tornel.

David Finley Elected Secretary of CAWA Board

The California/Nevada Automotive Wholesalers Association (CAWA) has announced the election of David Finley to the position of secretary to the board of directors. Finley owns several NAPA stores in Northern Nevada with his headquarters located at the NAPA Auto & Truck Parts in Sparks, NV. He has been a member of the CAWA Board of Directors for six years and has been active on various association committees. Finley currently serves on CAWA’s Public Affairs Committee representing the legislative, regulatory and legal interests of the members in the State of Nevada.
