The common stock of Accuride Corp., a supplier of commercial vehicle components, will begin trading today on the New York Stock Exchange. Accuride’s common stock will be traded under the symbol “ACW.”

TIA Members Gain Access to Online Fleet Maintenance Tool

Members of the Tire Industry Association (TIA) can now access a Web-based, commercial fleet management tool at “favorable rates,” thanks to an agreement between TIA and Comdata Corp. Comdata’s Fleet Team Web-based service allows dealers providing parts, maintenance and repair services to fleets to offer their customers a fleet maintenance system at no cost, according to the Brentwood, Tenn.-based supplier of transaction and payment services.

Record Numbers Attend AAIA Leadership Days; Board Officers Announced

The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) reported this week that a record number of people — 380 to be specific — converged upon Huntington Beach, Calif., last week to attend AAIA’s Spring Leadership Days. Volunteer board and committee members, VIP guests and professional staff participated in 28 group meetings and eight social events during the three-day program.

Alcoa Opens New Facility In North Carolina; Plant Will Provide Products to Freightliner

Alcoa’s Subassembly and Logistics business has announced plans to open a new manufacturing plant in Salisbury, Rowan County, N.C. The $6 million investment will create 75 new jobs in the area. Alcoa Subassembly and Logistics, part of Alcoa Wheel and Forged Products, provides wheel and tire assemblies to the Freightliner Group. The new North Carolina facility will support Freightliner locations in North and South Carolina. Production is scheduled to start in mid-April.

SKF Seals Deal with Dana for Heavy Duty Hubcaps

SKF has been awarded a contract to provide a lightweight hubcap solution for Dana Spicer Low Maintenance System wheel-end for heavy-duty axle wheel-end applications. The hubcap system was developed in conjunction with Dana’s Commercial Vehicle Systems group and will be available for use on Dana Spicer steer axles and trailer axles for several major North American truck and trailer manufacturers.

International Unveils Big Bore Engine at Mid-America

International Truck and Engine Corp. offered the first look at its new International brand big bore diesel engine at last week’s Mid-America Trucking Show. The fully emissions compliant engine, in the 11- to 13-liter range, is projected to debut in International Class 8 vehicles in Fall 2007.

Federal-Mogul Appoints Second Former Fiat Exec to Management Team

Jean Brunol has been appointed senior vice president, business and operations strategy and a member of the strategy board for Federal-Mogul Corp. His appointments are effective May 2. In this new role, Brunol will be responsible for corporate development of business and global growth strategies. Most recently Brunol was senior vice president, product and business strategy, international operations at Iveco – the commercial vehicle company of the Fiat Group. He is the second executive from Fiat Group to join Federal-Mogul in recent weeks. Last week, the company announced the appointment of Mario Leone, Fiat Group’s former chief information officer, to the position of senior vice president and chief information officer for Federal-Mogul.

Mario Leone has been appointed senior vice president and chief information officer for Federal-Mogul. He will also serve as a member of the company’s strategy board, effective May 2. Leone has 25 years of international business experience, most recently as chief information officer at Fiat Group and IVECO – the commercial vehicle company of the Fiat Group.

Remy to Sponsor Paul Dana in the Ethanol Hemelgarn Indy Racing League Entry

Remy International has signed a three-year associate sponsorship agreement with driver Paul Dana for the #91 Ethanol Hemelgarn Racing entry in the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series, starting with the 2005 season. Dana will pilot the Toyota-powered Dallara for the 17-race season. Ron Hemelgarn, a founding team owner in the Indy Racing League, will operate the team in an encore return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
