This year will mark 60 years in business for Peterson Manufacturing of Grandview, Mo. Over the past six decades, Peterson has grown from a small, automotive aftermarket supplier of such items as safety lighting and tire pumps, to a $250 million, multi-faceted corporation, serving transportation-related industries around the world.

Federal-Mogul Promotes Three Executives

Federal-Mogul yesterday announced promotions for three of its executives. Peter Becker has been appointed vice president, customer satisfaction, and was also appointed to the strategy board for Federal-Mogul Corp. In this new role, Becker assumes responsibility for quality and global customer satisfaction for Federal-Mogul. He previously served as vice president, corporate quality. Becker joined the company in May 2001.

Visteon has appointed Damien Germes, director of the replacement parts unit for its European aftermarket business. Germes has responsibility for independent aftermarket product management and commercial activities for the different product lines Visteon supplies to the repair market, including air conditioning and heating, engine cooling, lighting and a variety of other electrical and mechanical components.

The board of directors of Exide Technologies, a producer and recycler of lead-acid batteries, has appointed Gordon Ulsh as the company’s new president and CEO, effective April 2. He succeeds Craig Muhlhauser, who is leaving the company after successfully leading Exide out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Jose Maria Alapont Chosen as President and CEO of Federal-Mogul

Federal-Mogul Corp. has just announced that Jose Maria Alapont has been chosen to be the new president and CEO of the company. The appointment was authorized by the court presiding over Federal-Mogul’s Chapter 11 proceedings. Alapont also will join the board of directors of Federal-Mogul. Alapont, who served as CEO of IVECO, the commercial vehicle company of the Fiat Group, will replace Robert “Steve” Miller, who has been serving as interim CEO of Federal-Mogul since January 2004. Miller will continue to serve as chairman of Federal-Mogul’s board of directors.

Federal-Mogul to Give Away Classic Chevrolet El Camino SS Through 2005 Training Promo

The Federal-Mogul Technical Education Center (TEC) will give away a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino SS with a “numbers-matching” engine and rare package of factory options to an engine rebuilder, professional technician or parts counterperson through its 2005 Federal-Mogul Training Excellence Sweepstakes. Any qualified aftermarket professional may enter the sweepstakes by enrolling in a 2005 TEC training workshop or field clinic, or by contacting TEC for course information. There is no entry fee or enrollment requirement. The Training Excellence Sweepstakes drawing will be held in mid-December 2005.
