LOS ANGELES — PPG Automotive Refinish recently launched a new brand for its line of custom finishes. The new Vibrance Collection will showcase what the company described as “hot colors, unique pigments and special-effect finishes,” as well as a line of special primers, clears and detailing products.
PPG unveiled Vibrance Collection on April 1 at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, which showcases one of the world’s finest collections of classic hot rods and vintage motorcycles.
With the growing trend toward special-effect finishes in aftermarket segments such as motorcycles, street rods, custom cars, trucks and sport compacts, and increasingly in OEM, Mark Rapson, brand manager, PPG Collision Refinish, North America, said PPG recognized the significance of custom finishes.
“Because PPG is a world leader in automotive finishes, we have great access and insight into the development of new and exciting pigmentations,” said Rapson. “We have specifically chosen and developed some of the hottest colors and special effects for this new brand and we believe that it will create a lot of industry excitement.
PPG is also finalizing a new co-branding partnership with Hot Wheels, a Mattel, Inc. brand, to collaborate on the production of 12 anodized-looking Hot Wheels SPECTRAFLAME colors in the Vibrance Collection for use in automotive refinishing.
Some Vibrance Collection products are currently available. The launch will continue to roll out during spring/summer 2004 and beyond.
