PPG Completes First Phase Of Automotive Adhesives And Sealants Manufacturing Expansion Project In Mexico

The completed expansion, which adds production and distribution capacity for automotive adhesive and sealant products, is part of a two-phase project that will help PPG meet increasing demand in the growing Mexican automotive manufacturing industry.

ppg-logoPPG has announced the completion of the first phase of an expansion project at its facility in Tepotzotlan, Mexico. The completed expansion, which adds production and distribution capacity for automotive adhesive and sealant products, is part of a two-phase project that will help PPG meet increasing demand in the growing Mexican automotive manufacturing industry.

“Mexico is important strategically to PPG because its light-vehicle production rate is one of the fastest-growing among global automotive markets,” said Juanjo Ardid, PPG global general manager, adhesives and sealants. “This investment reflects our commitment to supporting automotive manufacturing customers in Mexico and throughout the region, ensuring they have access to PPG’s adhesives and sealants portfolio as well as all our world-class automotive coatings products.”

When the second phase of the project at the Tepotzotlan site concludes, PPG will have the capability to manufacture its full line of mastics, sealants and Audioguard acoustic coatings there. The Audioguard product line includes waterborne, spray-applied coatings that provide vibration damping and interior vehicle noise reduction.

“Local content, cost and sustainability are all important to our automotive customers in Mexico, so we are investing to localize the manufacture of more of the products they need,” said Miguel Martinez Leyton, PPG director, automotive coatings, Mexico. “This project will expand PPG’s capabilities in Mexico and demonstrate that we offer more of the best options for protecting and beautifying our customers’ vehicles.”
