Belron US has named a 20-year veteran of its Safelite AutoGlass business, Thomas Feeney, as its new president and chief executive officer. GAAS 2008: University of the Aftermarket Leadership 2.0 Team Envision Tackles Telematics

On day two of the 2008 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium in Chicago, “Team Envision,” one of two teams of aftermarket executives who participated in the 2007-2008 University of the Aftermarket Leadership 2.0 program, presented their winning research project on telematics. The team, comprised of Nataki Barnes, marketing manager, Federal-Mogul Corp.; JR Bishop, director of racing & event marketing for Federated Auto Parts; Jim Dykstra, owner of Dykstra’s Auto Service, T.J. Fontana, manager of sales operations & training, Tenneco; and Mike Harvey of Affinia, gave a clear, concise breakdown of the current state of telematics as well as a look at where it’s headed and how the aftermarket can play a part. Just after their presentation, aftermarketNews took a few minutes to chat with Team Envision about their telematics research.

University of the Aftermarket’s Leadership 2.0

“Team Envision” — one of the groups of aftermarket execs that recently participated in the University of the Aftermarket’s Leadership 2.0 program — has been selected to present its group project at the 2008 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS), which takes place May 20-21 in Chicago. The team, comprised of Nataki Barnes (Federal-Mogul Corp.), J.R. Bishop (Federated Auto Parts), Jim Dykstra (Dykstra’s Auto Service), T.J. Fontana (Tenneco) and Mike Harvey (Affinia), will present on the topic of telematics.

Monroe Lobbies Consumers to “Save a Squirrel”

Tenneco’s Monroe shocks and struts brand will launch an aggressive integrated advertising campaign this spring to remind consumers that replacing worn ride control components could help improve vehicle steering, stopping and stability – and just might save the life of an innocent squirrel darting across the road. Monroe’s “Save a Squirrel” campaign, encompassing thousands of media outlets, urges consumers to “Save a Squirrel. Change your shocks at 50,000 miles.” This message will be featured on billboards in major North American markets, in ads broadcast on nearly 2,000 radio stations, at Major League Baseball stadiums, on Web banners, on the www.monroesavethesquirrels.com campaign Web site, and other high-impact promotional activities. A variety of creative, comical campaign videos will be available on the program Web site as well as on several other consumer-oriented sites.

Aftermarket Professionals Graduate from University of the Aftermarket’s Leadership 2.0 Program

Leadership 2.0, the University of the Aftermarket’s Executive Development Program, concluded on Friday, April 18, with a graduation ceremony for its 19 participants. Participants in this year’s program represent a wide-array of aftermarket companies at all levels of the industry. Part I was held at Northwood University’s Troy campus in September 2007.
