AASA China Aftermarket Forum Works with TecDoc to Develop Electronic Car Parts Catalog

To address the rapid expansion of the Chinese aftermarket, the China Aftermarket Forum (CAF) of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) worked with TecDoc, a leading electronic parts cataloging provider in Europe, to develop an electronic parts catalog system for China’s aftermarket. Automaker, Supplier Shares Fall Following Interest Rate Cut

Shares of automakers and their suppliers largely fell Tuesday, after the Federal Reserve cut a key interest rate by one-quarter of a percentage point. The reduction in the federal funds rate to 4.25 percent marked the third consecutive rate cut and is expected to be matched by a cut in the prime rate that commercial banks use as the base for consumer and business lending, which could translate into lower rates for auto loans. Fed officials signaled that further cuts were possible if a severe downturn in housing and a crisis in mortgage lending get worse.

Walker Exhaust Announces Continuing Coverage Expansion

Tenneco has announced an ongoing product coverage expansion that will bring more than 600 new exhaust/emission control part numbers to the Walker exhaust product line throughout 2008. Tenneco has invested in well over 1,600 new exhaust/emission control SKUs since 2004. Unlike traditional annual coverage introductions provided by some aftermarket manufacturers, Tenneco and Walker will roll out hundreds of new exhaust/emission SKUs on a quarterly basis next year. According to the company, this new capability was the result of its continued investment in product development resources to help customers re-energize their exhaust/emissions businesses.
