France’s Valeo Sees Opportunities in U.S. Auto Parts Market as Incumbents Falter
Valeo’s chief executive Thierry Morin said that the financial problems of American firms such as Visteon Corp. and Delphi Corp. have created new opportunities for the France-based automotive supplier. Morin said that business is moving away from Visteon and Delphi as manufacturers look for more stable partners.

MAHLE to Acquire Siemens VDO Automotive’s Air Intake Module, Air Filtration Business Division
The MAHLE Group, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, has announced plans to acquire the air intake module and air filtration business segment for combustion engines from Siemens VDO Automotive. With this acquisition, the company will expand its market presence particularly in North America and Asia.

CTNA Appoints New Manager, PR and Communications
The PLT replacement sales and marketing group of Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has appointed Dana Zamalloa manager, public relations and communications. Zamalloa’s new position was effective Dec. 14. She will report to Travis Roffler, director of marketing for the PLT replacement group.

Pete Joy of Haldex to be Honored with MEMA’s Triangle Award During HDAW
Robert “Pete” Joy, president of Haldex Friction Brake, will receive the prestigious Triangle Award from the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and its heavy duty market association, the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW). HDAW takes place Jan. 22-25, 2007, in Las Vegas.
