Executive Interview with Larry Pavey, Senior Advisor, Federated Auto Parts

This week we hear from Larry Pavey, senior advisor, Federated Auto Parts. Pavey is a 30 year aftermarket veteran who began his career at Walker Manufacturing. He worked for Echlin and Dana Corporation for 20 years at the Brake Parts Inc. division where he served as president for 13 years, building the business to one of the largest manufacturers in the industry. After retiring from Dana, he worked with ARI and as a consultant for Global Parts Solutions. Pavey has been an active industry participant, serving on the Board of Directors for ASIA , APAA, AAIA, ASE, MEMA and the Manufacturers Advisory Council for AWDA. He has participated in numerous industry committees and initiatives. Nominations Now Open for MEMA’s Triangle Award

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) has opened nominations for its Triangle Award, the association’s most prestigious award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Sept. 28. For more than 30 years, the Triangle Award has been presented periodically to that person, persons or organization whom the membership of MEMA chooses to honor for selfless contribution to the automotive industry.

MAHLE and RIKEN Sign MOU for a Global Cooperation; MAHLE Acquires Mexican Parts Business

MAHLE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with RIKEN Corp. for global cooperation promoting each company’s strengths in the areas of piston rings, camshafts and other products. In addition to the expansion of the already existing Allied Ring Corp., a 50-50 North American joint venture manufacturer of piston rings owned by MAHLE and RIKEN, both companies will study and promote global collaborative projects making use of existing resources.

Southeast U.S. Automotive Research Initiative Unveiled

Seven of the Southeast’s most prominent universities, along with the National Transportation Research Center, Inc. (NTRCI), the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), have launched the Automotive Research Alliance (ARA). The ARA will provide a broad range of research resources to automotive manufacturers and suppliers, including technology and manufacturing solutions as well as academic and training programs.
