Tire Industry Rolls Out Sixth National Tire Safety Week

Tire manufacturers will again spearhead a week-long effort to educate motorists about proper tire care during the sixth National Tire Safety Week, scheduled for April 22-28, 2007. The annual event is an initiative of the Rubber Manufacturers Association’s (RMA) "Be Tire Smart – Play Your PART" program, a year-round effort designed to help drivers learn the simple steps they can take to ensure that their tires are in good working condition.

One in Five Drivers Do Not Properly Check Tire Pressure, Says RMA

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics show that about one in every three cars has a significantly under inflated tire and that 660 fatalities and 33,000 injuries occur every year as a result of low tire pressure-related crashes. AAA reports that each year they receive about 4 million roadside assistance calls due to tire-related incidents. Not surprisingly, a 2006 Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) survey found that more than 80 percent of drivers do not know how to properly check their tire pressure.

RMA to Promote Fifth Annual National Tire Safety Week

The fifth annual National Tire Safety Week will be held April 23 – 29, 2006, according to the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA). The annual event is an initiative of RMA’s “Be Tire Smart – Play Your PART” program, which is designed to help drivers learn the simple steps they can take to ensure that their tires are in good working condition.

RMA Embarks on New England Tire Care Awareness Tour

According to research from the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), New England drivers rank below national average when it comes to tire care. Only 14 percent of New England drivers properly check tire pressure. To address these issues, RMA is bringing its national tire care awareness tour to New England in a pre-July 4th, three-state swing to help educate motorists about the importance of proper tire care. RMA will co-host three, free tire care events, June 24-26.

National Tire Safety Week Participation Growing

The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) has announced that participation in the third annual National Tire Safety Week has doubled this year, with more than 8,000 tire retail stores participating. As part of the campaign, tire retailers will distribute “Be Tire Smart” brochures produced by RMA. More Aftermarket Eye Candy at This Year’s North American International Auto Show

Although there’s no shortage of muscle on the main floor at this year’s North American International Auto Show — the 850-horsepower Chrysler ME412 concept is only the beginning — there’s also a subterranean performance theme that’s been missing from previous shows. Once the take-it-or-leave-it realm of marginal players like Daewoo and stillborns like the revival Cunningham sports car, Cobo Center’s downstairs Michigan Hall exhibit area is studded this year with an intriguing array of production vehicles enhanced by aftermarket bolt-on goodies: designer wheels, low-profile tires, oversize brakes, high-performance shock absorbers and more.
