BASF to Reorganize Business, Adds Sixth Functional Solutions Segment

BASF AG said it will reorganize its business to have six divisions, up from its current five, effective Jan. 1, adding a "Functional Solutions" division that will focus on clients from the automotive and construction industries. On top of the new segment, the German chemical company will consist of the following units: Chemicals, Plastics, Performance Products, Agricultural Solutions and Oil & Gas, it said in a statement.

BASF Named Preferred Supplier for Ford

BASF has been named a preferred global supplier to Ford Motor Co., joining a select list of 36 suppliers in Ford’s “Aligned Business Framework.” The Aligned Business Framework is a crucial element in Ford’s global program to reduce the number of suppliers the company uses, and to build more collaborative relationships with those suppliers. Globally, Ford has more than 2,000 production suppliers and spends around $70 billion dollars annually on production parts.

BASF to Acquire Full Ownership of Coating Joint Venture from Akzo Nobel

BASF AG has reportedly signed an agreement to acquire full ownership of an automotive coating joint venture it owns with Akzo Nobel. The business, called BASF Akzo Nobel (BAN) will be merged with BASF’s Sydney-based coatings unit BASF Coatings Pty Ltd with BAN on July 1.
