AutoZone Announces Organizational Changes

AutoZone has announced a number of organizational changes this week. Among the new appointments, veteran retail executive Jim Shea has been hired to serve as executive vice president, merchandising and marketing. Most recently, Shea served as the CEO of Party City. He previously held senior level positions with companies such as Lechter’s Housewares, Kaufmann’s Department Stores, Lechmere, Eddie Bauer and Dayton Hudson. Shea started his career with General Mills.

Advance Auto Parts CEO Lawrence Castellani Announces Retirement

Lawrence Castellani, chairman and CEO of Advance Auto Parts, announced today that he will retire in May of 2005, following the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting. He will remain as chairman of the board. Castellani served as Advance’s CEO for five years.

AIA to Hold Awards Program at AAPEX

The Auto International Association (AIA) Segment of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association will hold its 16th AIA Industry Awards program at AAPEX 2004. Last year’s awards program showcased 70 entries from 24 companies in an impressive display located in the Sands Expo Center Upper Level Lobby. Alltrade Launches New line of HOT ROD Branded Automotive Tools

Shop tool and equipment maker Alltrade Tools LLC recently launched a new line of branded automotive tools and garage equipment, using the Hot Rod magazine name for the new brand. Alltrade teamed up with PRIMEDIA Enterprises, the licensing merchandising division of PRIMEDIA Inc., which publishes HOT ROD magazine. This is the second HOT ROD product line to launch following last year’s debut of the HOT ROD line of garage furniture produced by Sauder Woodworking.
