Advance Auto Parts CEO Lawrence Castellani Announces Retirement

Lawrence Castellani, chairman and CEO of Advance Auto Parts, announced today that he will retire in May of 2005, following the company's annual stockholders' meeting. He will remain as chairman of the board. Castellani served as Advance's CEO for five years.

ROANOKE, VA — Lawrence Castellani, chairman and CEO of Advance Auto Parts, announced today that he will retire in May of 2005, following the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting. He will remain as chairman of the board. Castellani served as Advance’s CEO for five years.

Michael Coppola, Advance’s executive vice president and COO, has been selected to succeed Castellani as CEO. He has also been appointed to the company’s board of directors. Coppola has been with Advance since February 2001. In addition to his current position, he previously served as senior vice president, merchandising.

Prior to joining Advance, Coppola had a successful career in the retail industry, including serving as executive vice president of marketing for Tops Friendly Markets.
