iATN to Hold Technical Training Sessions at Annual Convention

The International Automotive Technicians’ Network (iATN) 2004 Convention will feature three technical sessions, two management classes, an interactive TechNight Live: West Coast Diagnostic Challenge, a special luncheon presentation on OBD-II Technology and a keynote dinner presentation on “The State of the Industry.” The convention will take place Sept. 24-26, at the Coast Anaheim Hotel, in Anaheim, Calif.

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM) has appointed Thomas Martin to the position of vice president of finance and CFO. Martin replaces former AAM Executive Vice President and CFO Robin Adams, who left the company in April to become executive vice president, CFO and chief administrative officer at BorgWarner.

ASA Offers New Electronic Service Information Course for Collision Repair Professionals

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has created a new educational seminar to address information availability issues for collision repair professionals. The new three-hour seminar, “Electronic Service Information in a Collision Repair Facility,” presents automobile manufacturers’ collision repair information now available on the Internet. The course will be taught at several events this year, including the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) on Nov. 5 in Las Vegas.

ASA Announces Collision Division, Mechanical Division Operations Committees

Automotive Service Association (ASA) members have elected committee members for its Collision and Mechanical Divisions. Michael Anderson of Wagonwork Collision Center in Alexandria, Va., has been appointed Collision Division Director. Anderson will serves on ASA’s board of directors and will chair the 2004 ASA Collision Division Operations Committee. ASA members have also elected Earl Dohner, AAM, of E&E’s Garage in Brookville, Ohio, as Mechanical Division Director. Dohner will serve on ASA’s board of directors and will chair the 2004 ASA Mechanical Division Operations Committee.

American Axle & Manufacturing Initiates Quarterly Dividend Program

The board of directors for American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings (AAM) has declared its first ever dividend as a public company. A quarterly cash dividend of $0.15 per share will be payable on June 28 to stockholders of record on all of the company’s issued and outstanding common stock as of June 7.

ASA Announces New Board of Directors

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) installed its new board of directors during the association’s annual business meeting held on April 16 and 17 in San Antonio. Geralynn Kottschade, AAM, of Jerry’s Body Shop Inc. in Mankato, Minn., was named chairman of ASA’s board of directors for 2004-05. Kottschade assumed the chairman’s post at the conclusion of the annual meeting.

ASA to Host Seminar on Right to Repair Issue

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has created a three-hour seminar, “You Have the Right to Repair,” which will be offered at several ASA affiliated events this year, including Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) in Las Vegas on Nov. 6. Taught by Bill Haas, AAM, ASA’s vice president of service repair markets, the course has been approved by the Automotive Management Institute (AMI). Attendees will receive six credits toward the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation.

American Axle & Manufacturing Awarded Contract for New Driveline System

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings (AAM) has been selected as the driveline system and module supplier for a 2008 model year North American vehicle program. AAM will be the sole source, exclusive supplier and systems integrator for all of the driveline components, systems, modules and forged products for the new off-road adventure sport enthusiast vehicle. The contract is valued at $100 million per year based on current customer design direction.

Florida Senate Committee Passes Insurer-Owned Repair Facility Legislation

By a vote of 8 to 1, the Florida Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance has passed Senate Bill 2692, which prohibits insurer-owned shops in the state of Florida.
