Automotive Instructors Receive Special Invitation To AAPEX 2012

Automotive instructors are invited to the inaugural Inside AAPEX for Automotive Instructors on Wednesday, Oct. 31 and Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. Attendees will learn about new technology, meet with manufacturer product managers and trainers and earn National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) credit hours.

Michael Makowsky Named 2012 Mitchell 1 Educator of the Year

Each year, Mitchell 1 recognizes one of the nation’s top teachers for excellence in automotive repair instruction. Makowsky was presented with a check for $500 and a recognition certificate. He also will receive a one-year complimentary subscription to Mitchell 1’s ProDemand repair, diagnostic and maintenance information program for the school where he teaches.

Mitchell 1 Names Kevin Krutell 2012 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student

Each year, Mitchell 1 recognizes one U.S. or Canadian high school senior for outstanding achievement in automotive technology and auto shop repair scholastics. Krutell received a $2,500 scholarship, a check for $500 and round trip airfare and accommodations for himself and his mother to attend the NACAT conference.

NATEF President Bill Kersten Announces Retirement

Kersten has been the President of NATEF since 2006. He joined ASE in 1979 and served as senior VP of operations until 1987. Trish Serratore, who currently servers as senior VP, has been named his successor.

Shane Robertson of Bumpass, Va., received the 2011 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student Scholarship during the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) Conference held recently at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Tom Varrone Named 2010 Educator of the Year

Varrone was presented with a check for $500 and a recognition certificate. He also receives a one-year, complimentary subscription to Mitchell 1’s popular OnDemand5.com for the school where he teaches.
