Pittas joined Remy in 2006 from Eagle-Picher Automotive where he served as president of the Wolverine Specialty Materials business. Prior to joining EaglePicher, Pittas held progressive positions with Honeywell, ARI Technologies and UOP. Pittas has nearly 30 years of manufacturing experience, holding management positions in customer service, sales, technical support and process engineering. He has been responsible for leading business expansion through new customer and international market development, implemented Six Sigma and other productivity programs and organized teams to meet competitive challenges. Northwood University to Honor Seven Aftermarket Professionals

Northwood University will honor seven automotive aftermarket leaders with its annual Automotive Aftermarket Education Award on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The awards will be presented during a luncheon at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo Show (AAPEX). Northwood’s Automotive Aftermarket Education Award recognizes leaders for their contributions to the educational process in the automotive aftermarket field. The award was created to insure that these individuals receive national recognition for their efforts to improve education inside and outside the industry.

Executive Interview with Larry Pavey, Senior Advisor, Federated Auto Parts

This week we hear from Larry Pavey, senior advisor, Federated Auto Parts. Pavey is a 30 year aftermarket veteran who began his career at Walker Manufacturing. He worked for Echlin and Dana Corporation for 20 years at the Brake Parts Inc. division where he served as president for 13 years, building the business to one of the largest manufacturers in the industry. After retiring from Dana, he worked with ARI and as a consultant for Global Parts Solutions. Pavey has been an active industry participant, serving on the Board of Directors for ASIA , APAA, AAIA, ASE, MEMA and the Manufacturers Advisory Council for AWDA. He has participated in numerous industry committees and initiatives. Join us as Pavey shares how his previous experiences in manufacturing and direct sourcing give him a unique perspective in his new role in programmed distribution.

Aftermarket Industry Veteran Jack Cameron Joins AASA Staff

Jack Cameron, AAP, a 24-year veteran of the automotive aftermarket, will join the staff of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) as vice president, programs and member services. Cameron currently is general manager – automotive/heavy duty aftermarket, the Americas, at The Timken Co. in Canton, OH. He will relocate from Ohio to the association headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC, and officially join the AASA staff on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Executive Interview with Benny Araujo, Marketing Manager for Four Seasons

This week we hear from Benny Araujo, marketing manager for Four Seasons. Araujo has worked for Four Seasons since 1998. Prior to joining Four Seasons, he worked as a sales manager for Dayco Products. Araujo began his career in 1985 with Eaglemotive (Kool Klutch/Imperial), working in the marketing department. A graduate of the University of Texas-Arlington, Araujo has a BBA in Marketing. 2007 Aftermarket eForum Offers Informative Educational Track Sessions; Early-Bird Registration Deadline Extended

Three in-depth educational track sessions on hot industry issues will be offered during the first day of the 2007 Aftermarket eForum, July 16-18 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. All three sessions will run concurrently from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16. In addition, the early-bird registration deadline for the 2007 Aftermarket eForum has been extended to June 15.

GAAS 2007: Leadership 2.0 Teams Present Projects

Two teams, one question. During the late Wednesday session at GAAS, two Leadership 2.0 teams described in detail their plans to help answer the question: How to survive in a changing aftermarket? Leadership 2.0 is an executive leadership education program designed specifically for the aftermarket. It consists of two five-day sessions, as well as a team project. Gary Kremer Retires from Uni-Select USA

Gary Kremer , senior vice president at Uni-Select USA, is retiring. A 35 year veteran of the aftermarket industry, Kremer will step down from his role at Uni-Select effective Friday, March 30.In addition to his career at Uni-Select, Kremer is a past chairman of Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA), past chairman of the Car Care Council and past president of the Independent Auto Parts of America. He also served as an instructor for the AWDA University, now Northwood University’s University of the Aftermarket.
