Goodyear Recalls 400,000 Tires

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is voluntarily recalling some 400,000 associate and private brand passenger tires the company produced between 2003 and 2006. The company said the move was precautionary, even though “after an exhaustive analysis, no design or manufacturing defect was found in the tire." The tires in question – size P215/70R14 – were produced under 23 different brand names, including Goodyear house or associate brands Kelly-Springfield, Douglas, Mohave and Republic. The tires were sold in the U.S. and Canada.

Michelin Recalls 6,500 Pilot Sport Extra Load Tires

Michelin North America (MNA) is recalling approximately 6,500 Michelin brand Pilot Sport extra load tires in size 255/35ZR20 97Y in the U.S. and Canada. MNA said it made the decision and notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Transport Canada of the recall after discovering the tires did not meet its quality standards.

Michelin Recalls 10,000 Sports Vehicle Tires

Michelin said it is recalling worldwide around 10,000 tires of a model usually fitted to sport-type vehicles after detecting a flaw that can cause a rapid flat tire.

GM Recalls More Than 2 Million Cars

General Motors announced Monday it will recall more than 2 million vehicles because of safety defects. The recall applies mostly to cars and trucks GM sold in the United States, the company said. Some sport utility vehicles and pick-up trucks from the 2003 to 2005 model years are believed to have problems with seat belts in the second row, GM said.

Asian Manufacturer Recalls Replacement Hoods for 2001-2003 Hyundai Elantras

Asian manufacturer Yih Sheng Auto Parts Ind. Co., Ltd., has issued a recall of its aftermarket replacement hoods for the Hyundai Elantra, model years 2001 – 2003, sold during 2004. All parts were sold under the Yih Sheng brand name, and are being recalled because of a possible faulty latch assembly.

Michelin Recalls 4,000 Commercial Truck Tires

Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it is recalling a maximum of 4,000 Michelin XDE M/S Size 10R22.5 (Load Range F and Load Range G) commercial truck tires. MATT’s decision comes after its quality control system indicated a condition that could possibly result in rapid air loss, the tiremaker reported.

Valvoline Recalls Brake Cleaner and Brake Parts Cleaner

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Valvoline have announced a voluntary recall of Pyroil Brake Parts Cleaner and NAPA Brake Cleaner. More than 2.8 million cans of the cleaners are being recalled due to a defect in the spray valve.
