Tiremakers Issue Recalls

Both Goodyear and American Pacific Industries (API) are recalling limited numbers of consumer tires, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Goodyear is recalling 5,300 Dunlop Winter Sport 3D tires in size 225/50R17 with DOT number DM40 2TTR, and Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires in size 275/35R18 with DOT number DMBL 2J8R.

These tires were manufactured between Sept. 4, 2005, through May 17, 2008. NHTSA said the tires fail to conform to the tire strength requirements of FMVSS 109.

API is recalling 4,738 of its Spector Advanta SUV radial light truck/SUV tires in size P255/70R16. These tires were manufactured between Feb. 3 and Mar. 1, 2008 ad carry DOT numbers 3EEC0508 through 3EEC0808.

According to NTSA, these tires may have a thin area of rubber on a portion of the tire bead, which could lead to a poor bead seat and air loss. (Courtesy of Tire Review)
