Automobile Club of Southern California Signs Multi-Year Sponsorship of Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum

The Automobile Club of Southern California, the largest affiliate of the AAA, has signed an agreement to become the presenting sponsor of the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, Calif., according to museum officials. The Auto Club sponsorship includes a specially designated Automobile Club of Southern California area inside the Museum that will feature a permanent display of historic racing memorabilia. As part of the deal, the Auto Club will also remain presenting sponsor of the annual NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield.

U.S. Industry Associations Sponsor 2005 Australian Aftermarket Trade Show

Several major U.S. industry associations have offered their support for the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) in promoting its 2005 AAAA Trade Show. The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) has announced it will promote the show, as the event will provide AAIA members the opportunity to reach key buyers in the emerging Asian-Pacific markets. In addition, the Automotive Parts Rebuilders Association (APRA) has signed on as a co-sponsor of the event. The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association and a number of other U.S. aftermarket associations will also sponsor the event.

RMA Embarks on New England Tire Care Awareness Tour

According to research from the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), New England drivers rank below national average when it comes to tire care. Only 14 percent of New England drivers properly check tire pressure. To address these issues, RMA is bringing its national tire care awareness tour to New England in a pre-July 4th, three-state swing to help educate motorists about the importance of proper tire care. RMA will co-host three, free tire care events, June 24-26.

GAAS Scholarships Awarded to 145 Students

The Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) continues its work to ensure a strong future talent pool for automotive aftermarket companies and service outlets through its highly successful scholarship program. A total of 145 students will receive $1,000 GAAS scholarships in 2004, with the majority of recipients entering automotive vocational-technical programs, which will help address the critical shortage of automotive technicians.
