DST Users’ Group Announces Spring Conference Agenda

The Directors of the DST Users’ Group have announced the agenda for its upcoming three-day Group Conference, to be held May 12-14, at the Laguna Hills, Calif., Holiday Inn, located near DST’s corporate headquarters. The conference will focus on common goals of DSTWare users, networking, training, product direction and best practices, as well as break-out discussion groups. Topics will include warehouse management, bar coding, replenishment, querying, creative extracting and reporting ideas, cataloging, sales management, and Internet-based parts ordering.

AWDA Names Larry Northup to Direct Segment at AAIA

The Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) has appointed Larry Northup to direct its day-to-day operations, as a segment of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). AWDA joined forces with AAIA in January 2004. Northup, who currently serves as senior director of segment management at AAIA, immediately assumes the role of AWDA liaison. Working closely with the AWDA volunteer leadership and AAIA’s professional staff, he will be responsible for coordinating the segment’s membership marketing and recruitment activities, meetings and conferences, including the annual one-on-one meetings, government relations and communications.

North American Automotive Suppliers, Japanese Carmakers Meet for 10th Annual Business Conference

North American automotive suppliers and Japanese car manufacturers will meet to promote expanded business relationships at the 10th annual MEMA/JAMA One on One Business Conference, scheduled to take place Monday, Sept. 27, through Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn, Mich. The conference is sponsored by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA)

CCAR Partners with OSHA to Create a Safe Workplace in the Auto Industry

The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR) has formalized an alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to address worker safety and health issues in the automotive industry. The alliance not only highlights workplace vehicle safety, but will also focus on abrasive wheel machinery (including associated silica hazards) and ergonomics. The alliance provides CCAR affiliates and others in the automotive industry with information, guidance and access to training resources that will further safety and health for industry workers.

Cooper Tire Puts on its Game Face

The official tire of six NCAA conferences, Cooper Tire & Rubber is taking an experimental approach to building regional brand awareness through a series of pre-game and on-court interactive promotions at upcoming NCAA basketball games. “We’re aiming to activate our corporate partnerships by pushing our involvement past simple signage, and enhancing our consumer’s sports experience,” said Pat Brown, vice president of advertising and communications at Cooper Tire.
