Navistar Names Director of Investor Relations

Navistar International has appointed Julie Creed as director of investor relations. Creed most recently spent three years as vice president of investor relations for Montreal-based CGI Group, a $3 billion information technology service company where she was responsible for strategic direction and execution of its global investor relations activities. She also spent eight years with the Financial Relations Board, the nation’s oldest firm dedicated to the practice of investor relations.

Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group to Participate in the New Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week

The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) announced that its Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group (HDRG) will join other leading industry associations in support and participation in the new Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) to be held January 23-27, 2006 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Dart Transit Company Joins American Trucking Associations

Dart Transit Co., the 16th-largest truckload carrier in the U.S., recently announced that it joined the American Trucking Associations (ATA) in a move to support ATA initiatives on current and pending legislative issues. Based in Eagan, Minn., Dart Transit is a family-owned and operated business, offering national, dedicated, regional and local truckload service. Dart Intermodal is the nation’s third-largest asset-based intermodal carrier. The company also offers warehousing and logistic services.

Female Engine Builders, Hear Them Roar

In front of a standing-room-only crowd during the AERA Show in Las Vegas last week, four female engine builders proved they were up to the task of their first-ever Clevite Engine Builder Challenge. Clevite Engine Parts has sponsored the Clevite Engine Builder Challenge Series since 1990 and has hosted the event at industry trade shows, conferences, race tracks and open house events for customers – but this was the first build to feature women only.

Timken Chief Engineer Honored by SAE

The Timken Co.’s Chief Engineer for Axle Centers, Mircea Gradu, was recently honored by the Society of Automotive Engineers’ (SAE) for his leadership and contributions to developing and enhancing the interchange of technical information in SAE’s transmission and driveline technology sessions. Gradu was presented with the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award at a ceremony held April 12, during the Honors Convocation at the Society of Automotive Engineers’ World Congress at Cobo Hall in Detroit.

CFS Establishes Link with Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance

The Council of Fleet Specialist (CFS) recently announced it has established ties with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), a not-for-profit organization whose aim is to promote commercial motor vehicle safety and security by providing leadership to enforcement, industry and policy makers. According to CFS, connecting with CVSA will help enable the council to raise awareness of the role that distributors play in the heavy-duty market by highlighting the significant position they hold between manufacturers and end-users.

SAE Marks 100th Anniversary

Yesterday, Jan. 20, officially marked the Society of Automotive Engineers’ (SAE) 100 year anniversary. To commemorate its century of continued service to the mobility community, SAE has planned several special events, conferences and expositions throughout the year. SAE’s celebration will include gala events, specially commissioned 100th anniversary artwork and an interactive, traveling exhibit.

SAE Plans Centennial Celebrations

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE ) plans to hold special celebrations at several of its conferences and expositions in 2005 to celebrate its 100 year anniversary. SAE has been serving the mobility engineering community since 1905. From a black tie gala and special section functions to PR events and centennial series editions of its magazines, there will be ample opportunities for joining SAE in toasting its first century.
