PIES 5.0 Released for Industry Use; Latest Version Supports Imaging Best Practice and CARQUEST Enhancements

The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) has announced publication of the latest version of the Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES). PIES version 5.0 includes support for the exchange of product images in compliance with the Imaging Best Practice Guideline, also published by AAIA. The latest version of PIES also includes additions that bring the industry standard and a similar CARQUEST specification into closer alignment.

New Release of PIES With CARQUEST and HDx Extensions Announced

An important new release was recently distributed for the Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES) that includes industry requested extensions and an “express” format for product data exchange, according to AAIA. PIES 4.2 includes extensions of the standard specifically requested by the Heavy Duty eXchange (HDx) and CARQUEST to meet the data exchange requirements of these industry groups. By working closely with aftermarket groups and responding to their needs, AAIA helps ensure that the PIES specification remains an industry standard.

WIX Filters First Supplier to Become PIES Certified

WIX Filters has become the first aftermarket supplier to receive certification under the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association’s (AAIA) Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES). PIES was developed by a subcommittee of AAIA’s technology group following a 2002 product data study conducted by AAIA that found aftermarket product data was inaccurate and incomplete. The study revealed that data errors were costing the aftermarket $1.7 billion annually.

AAIA to Host Information Webinar on New PIES Data Audit and Certification Service

Earlier this week, AAIA announced the availability of a new service to audit and certify product information compliance with the Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES). To explain how the DAC service works and describe the importance of accurate product information to the aftermarket industry, AAIA and Comergent will conduct an informational Webinar at 11 a.m. (EST) on Thursday, May 13.
