Dana Declares Bankruptcy: Fortune 500 Firm Vows to Keep Operating
Unable to get more credit and fend off mounting debts, Toledo’s Dana Corp. on Friday filed for bankruptcy protection, vowing to continue operating. The venerable Toledo, OH, firm has dealt with a series of financial problems in the last six months that ultimately led to the filing for protection from its creditors. Although the filing was not unexpected, it nevertheless was psychologically gut-wrenching to one of the nation’s largest independent automotive parts makers.
Johnson Controls Named One of Fortune’s Most Admired Companies
Johnson Controls has earned the number one position on Fortune magazine’s America’s Most Admired Companies list. The company was designated an Industry Champion within the Motor Vehicles and Parts category. The complete report will be printed in the publication’s March 6 issue.
East Penn Named to Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” List
East Penn Manufacturing was recently named to Fortune magazine’s ninth annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. Timken Named to Fortune 500
Canton, Ohio-based manufacturer Timken Co. was named to Fortune magazine’s Fortune 500 listing of the largest companies in the U.S. With $3.8 billion in sales in 2003, Timken is ranked 444 overall and 12 on Fortune’s list of industrial and farm equipment manufacturers.
