Johnson Controls Named One of Fortune’s Most Admired Companies

Johnson Controls has earned the number one position on Fortune magazine's America's Most Admired Companies list. The company was designated an Industry Champion within the Motor Vehicles and Parts category. The complete report will be printed in the publication's March 6 issue.

MILWAUKEE — Johnson Controls has earned the number one position on Fortune magazine’s America’s Most Admired Companies list. The company was designated an Industry Champion within the Motor Vehicles and Parts category. The complete report will be printed in the publication’s March 6 issue.

The company was evaluated on eight key reputation attributes including: innovation, employee talent, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and quality of products or services.

“It’s been an historic week for our company,” John Barth, chairman and CEO, Johnson Controls, said. “Our ranking in Fortune underscores our commitment to lead our industry not only in terms of innovation, but also in the way we conduct business on a daily basis and how we continue to exceed our customers’ expectations. We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished.”

Johnson Controls was also visited this week by President George W. Bush, who delivered a major energy policy address. During his speech, which focused on the need for energy independence, the President praised the company’s leadership role in the development of lithium-ion batteries for the automobile industry and technology for energy-efficient buildings.

“Johnson Controls has been on the cutting-edge of technology for a century. The people who work here are on the leading edge of change,” said President Bush.

The company also received recognition earlier this year when Johnson Controls was named one of America’s Most Shareholder Friendly Companies by Institutional Investor. The inaugural survey of more than 1,000 portfolio managers and analysts in the U.S. and abroad spanned 62 industry sectors. Johnson Controls was recognized in the Autos & Auto Parts subset of the Consumer Sector.
