Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Holds Annual Winter Meeting in Sunny Florida

The shareholders of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc. gathered in Boca Raton, FL, for the group’s annual winter meeting held Dec. 2-6. Each shareholder of the Alliance was represented. The meeting is a culmination of the past year’s efforts of Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper parts stores and certified service centers. Reports and breakout meetings focusing on marketing, product and education were reviewed. New vendors were reviewed and approved and the 2007 marketing strategy was presented.

MACS 25th Anniversary Convention Gets Support from Record Number of Sponsors

“NOW IS THE TIME!” — the 25th Anniversary Convention and Trade Show of the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide is getting support from a record number of corporate sponsors. Forty sponsors have signed up for the show, which will take place February 1-3, 2005 at the Las Vegas Hilton.

PPG Introduces New Line of Custom Finishes

PPG Automotive Refinish recently launched a new brand for its line of custom finishes. The new Vibrance Collection will showcase what the company described as “hot colors, unique pigments and special-effect finishes,” as well as a line of special primers, clears and detailing products. PPG is also finalizing a new co-branding partnership with Hot Wheels, a Mattel, Inc. brand, to collaborate on the production of 12 anodized-looking Hot Wheels SPECTRAFLAME colors in the Vibrance Collection for use in automotive refinishing.

GM, Kia Face Growing Investigation

General Motors Corp. and Kia Motors Corp. are facing an expanded U.S. auto safety investigation and possible recalls because of fuel leaks that may occur on more than 760,000 vehicles. Gasoline may leak into the engine on 483,000 Cadillacs and Oldsmobile Auroras models for 1995 through 1997, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. A total of 278,266 Kia Spectra and Sephia sedans from the 2000 and 2001 model years are being checked for spills during refueling, which led to the recall of 100,000 Sephias made before 2000.
