Another Round of Price Hikes for Bridgestone

Bridgestone Corp. said it will raise prices on tires sold through retailers as of September, citing high costs for such materials as natural and synthetic rubber. The increase will mark a second round of price hikes this year, the first being in March and April.

Cooper Temporarily Halts Production in Texarkana

Cooper Tire Co. said it will stop production at its Texarkana plant today and Monday due to lower demand for the tires made there. Production cutbacks are company-wide, Findlay, Ohio-based Cooper said in a statement. A member of the union that represents employees at Texarkana’s Cooper plant said workers were told they will not be paid for the two-day shutdown and that they should expect more temporary halts in production this year.

Eaton Corp. announced today that Joseph Palchak has been elected to the position of chief executive officer – Automotive Group. Formerly president of the Engine Air Management Business, Palchak reports to Alexander Cutler, Eaton chairman and chief executive officer. Oshkosh Offers Downward Revisions Third Quarter, Full Year 2008 Estimates

Oshkosh Corp. said today it expects a loss of approximately $1.22 to $1.32 per share for its third quarter of fiscal 2008, compared to its prior earnings per share (EPS) estimate range of $1.40 to $1.50 of income for the quarter. The company said the expected loss relates to a non-cash charge for the impairment of goodwill to be recorded in connection with its European refuse collection vehicle manufacturer, the Geesink Norba Group. The impact of the impairment charge on third fiscal quarter earnings is estimated to be approximately $175 million, or $2.32 per share.

Tough Economic Conditions Force Cooper Tire to Adjust Production
