Timken Automotive Aftermarket Announces 2007 Manufacturers’ Representative Awards

Timken’s Automotive Aftermarket group has announced the recipients of its 2007 Manufacturers’ Representative Awards. Those who exceeded $1 million in sales joined the Million Dollar Sales Club and include: Ed Palnau and Glenn Cattanach, Kitchin & Sons; Jim Connolly and Jerry Spexarth, Connolly Sales & Marketing; Michael Glazier, Glazier Sales; Mike Lenszuolo, Grinold O’Brien Sales; Ben Rawls, Hirsig-Frazier Company, Inc.; Gary Linsley and Alan Tiegs, RepWorks Marketing; and Ken Brandt, Sherman/Peterson. Hirsig-Frazier Company, Inc. (HF) was selected as the Manufacturers’ Representative Agency of the Year. Agencies were judged on the basis of four criteria: agency growth, professionalism, communication and visibility.

Tomkins Realigns Aftermarket Sales Organization

As a result of Tomkins recent divestiture of Trico Products Corp., the company has announced a realignment and segregation of the automotive aftermarket sales force. “This sales force segregation allows each of us to concentrate our efforts on our core products,” said Cheryl Avery, global vice president of sales. “These changes will allow us to develop product line specialists and devote the appropriate sales time and effort to each of our products to grow sales for Tomkins and our customers.”

Tomkins Feels Pressure of U.S. Slowdown and Weak Dollar; Plans to Sell Three U.S. Business Units

Car components and building products group Tomkins plc warned yesterday that the slowdown in the U.S. housing and automotive markets coupled with the weakness of the dollar would hit profits for the first half of this year. The warning came as the group announced a 7 percent fall in pre-tax profits last year to approximately $477 million and said it planned to sell off three American businesses with combined sales of approximately $973 million. Tomkins also said it would cut capital expenditure and transfer more production to low labor cost countries such as Mexico, China and the Czech Republic. The three businesses being sold off are Lasco Fittings, a supplier of industrial and building equipment, Trico, the windshield wiper company, and Dearborn Midwest, which makes heavy conveyor systems for car plants.
